PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES

Overall Duties


Qualified Marine Electrical installation fitter required for Award winning Australian Aluminium Catamaran boat builder based at Ballina/Byron Hinterland NSW. Working in new modern factory fitting out high quality custom aluminium boats for Pleasure, Commercial & Government clients.

Key Tasks

* Planning and running wire routes throughout the vessel.

* Terminating wires at panels and connecting to terminal blocks.

* Testing systems for correct operation using multimeters, ohmmeters, and voltmeters.

* Protecting connections against salt-water corrosion using heat shrinks and proper insulation.

* Final commissioning of boat, electrical & outboards systems

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Teamwork: Report to the General Manager & fit up Team Leader to ensure the correct installation, equipment & systems are installed to the appropriate standards for each custom vessel fit out. Working in both group and individual environments in the factory

· System Installation: Installing wiring, fuse panels, cabling, switchboards, and distribution boards according to technical blueprints.

· Component Fitting: Installing marine electronics including navigation systems (GPS), fish finders, radars, communication equipment, and engine monitoring tools. Hard fitting of marine accessories.

· Power Systems: Setting up 12V DC power systems, including batteries, inverters, solar panels, and chargers.

· Outboard Installation: Installation of high horsepower outboards, outboard rigging and associated accessories to OEM Outboard standards, installation of fuel systems and filters

· Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing and repairing faults in electrical systems and components, including wiring repairs and equipment replacements.

· Quality & Compliance: Ensuring installations meet maritime safety standards, such as AMSA or local regulation

· Ensure quality workmanship


Required Skills


* Technical Knowledge:Comprehensive understanding of electrical principles, marine standards, and ability to read, interpret, and update electrical schematics.

* Attention to Detail:High precision in wiring to prevent future failures due to marine vibration and saltwater ingress to electrical systems. High quality, crimping, soldering and cable protection skills required

* Safety Mindset:Strict adherence to WH&S systems and working safely at all times

Qualifications and Education


* Qualifications: Licenced tradesperson as Marine Electrician, Auto Electrician, Electrical Fitter is desirable. Must have or be able to obtain a Marine White card.

* Mechanical Aptitude:Skill in using hand and power tools to mount and install electrical, electronics & outboards.
